  • Essential Oils for Insect Repellant: Flea, Tick and Other Peskies
    One thing I hate about summer is those pesky mosquitoes, deer flies and bugs. I never go outside without spraying myself down with one of the essential oil mixtures below. The first one is my favorite. For me, the peppermint oil is a must have ingredient. The deer flies come close and quickly fly away. I spray it on my hair, over my clothes and any exposed skin These recipes can be used for humans, horses, dogs and other animals bothered by insects. Insect Repellent Recipe With Peppermint Combine: 10 drops Peppermint oil 10 drops Purification oil Mix with 4 oz distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake well before each use. Insect Repellent Recipe Combine: 20 drops (2 droppers) citronella or Purification 10 drops eucalyptus 10 drops lemongrass 5 drops basil 5 drops Melaleuca Mix with 4 oz distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake well before using. Try making up one of these flea collar recipes: Purification Essential Oil Flea Collar Mix the following: 1/2 tsp vodka or gin 4 drops garlic oil (or 4 garlic capsules, broken) 1 drop cedarwood 1 drop Purification 1 drop thyme Saturate a soft cloth type collar with the above mixture and allow to dry completely before putting it on your pet. Lemongrass Essential Oil Flea Collar Mix the following: 1/2 tsp vodka or gin 1 drop cedarwood 1 drop lavender 1 drop lemongrass Saturate a soft cloth type collar with the above mixture and allow to dry completely before putting it on your pet. Flea, Tick and Insect Repellent One gallon distilled or pure water 4 heaping tablespoons organic dried catnip 2 1/2 tablespoons organic neem oil 2 teaspoons Young Living Thieves Household Cleaner or Young Living Bath Gel Base 80 drops Young Living Purification oil 80 drops Young Living Lemongrass oil 40 drops Young Living Idaho Tansy oil 40 drops Young Living Palo Santo oil 40 drops Young Living Ocotea or Basil oil 20 drops Young Living Peppermint oil (optional for high temperatures) Steep the catnip in the gallon of water for 20 ? 30 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Strain if needed. Add all remaining ingredients into Thieves Household Cleaner or Bath Gel Base. Then mix together, and put into spray bottles. Use as needed. You can cut in half or quarter if you need less.

  • How To Make A Sugar Facial Scrub With Essential Oils
    This is a facial scrub but it can be used for body scrub. If your skin is sensitive rub very gently. Combine: 1/2 cup olive oil, wheat germ or coconut oil 1 cup of fine sugar Add 5 or 6 drops of your favorite essential oil. Pick oils from these for your skin type: Normal skin: lavender, neroli, orange, cedarwood, geranium, jasmine, geranium, roman chamomile, rose, rosewood, Ylang-ylang, melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) Combination skin: Geranium, rosewood, Ylang-ylang, rose, geranium, neroli Aging dry skin: cedarwood, carrot seed, clary sage, jasmine, geranium, lavender, orange, neroli, sandalwood, rosewood, rose, vetiver, ylang ylang Oily skin: cedarwood, geranium, clary sage, lavender, ylang ylang, peppermint, cypress, frankincense, patchouli, Roman chamomile, German chamomile, sandalwood, juniper, melissa, coriander, grapefruit, lemon, rose, rosemary, eucalyptus, myrtle, neroli Sensitive skin: rose, helichrysum, neroli, rosewood, jasmine, Roman chamomile, German chamomile, neroli Preparation: Mix all ingredients well in a glass or stainless steel bowl, mug or cup. (DO NOT USE PLASTIC or Foam cups or containers, the oils will ingest it). The sugar scrubs work best on dry skin so apply the mixture before washing face or showering. If you are using it as a body scrub, you may want to use a loofah mitt. Using small amounts of your facial scrub in your hands, rub the mixture over your face or body in a circular motion. Using a clean washcloth, (little or no soap) wash your face, removing the dead skin cells. Rinse well then with a towel, pat yourself dry. Follow up with a nice moisturizer.
